</->
Other rooms in the home may be remodeled or redecorated but the bathroom is often overlooked. Even though the bathroom may be small and not as prominent as the other rooms in your home, there’s no reason it shouldn’t be treated to the same decorative care. Here are several inexpensive ways to dress up your bathroom to match the other rooms of your house.

Choose a theme for your bathroom. Some people love the nautical theme for a bathroom, and you can find shower curtains with lighthouses or seascapes. Others like something more feminine such as flowers. Cartoon characters can be a good choice for your children’s bathroom. Try to find accessories and paint the walls to match that theme.

You don’t have to do a major renovation to dress up your bathroom. One way to change the look and feel of the bathroom is with paint. Instead of using a single color, why not use a wall treatment similar to what you’ve used in another room of the house? Paint the walls one color and add glaze to another and rag it over the basecoat. Don’t be afraid to use bold colors in this small space. It’s amazing how much a coat of paint or two can spruce up even the dreariest bathroom!

Even if you don’t paint, you can buy new coordinating towels to make your bathroom look fresh. Depending upon the color of your bathroom, you may be able to find several towels which will coordinate so you can transform the look by changing out the towels.

Matching shower curtain, soap dish and trash cans that compliment your towels and theme will bring the look together. There’s no need to spend big money for pre-made accessories. Consider adding items such as seashells to a plain trash can or soap dish if you’re using a nautical theme. You can also hot glue flowers or other items on them to match the theme you’ve chosen.

Rather than spending a premium on coordinating decorations, save a little bit of money by creating your own artwork for the bathroom. Use a closed shadow box with items that match your theme, rather than a painting which can be damaged by the moisture in the bathroom. You can also find non-traditional items as conversation-starting bathroom decorations.

Find an antique mirror to replace the plain beveled mirror that was in there. An old window frame can be modified by adding a mirror where the glass should be. Either of these inexpensive ideas can change the way your bathroom looks without breaking the budget.

Improve or change the lighting in the bathroom. Most bathrooms are small and dark but they don’t have to be. Place the new lighting on a dimmer so you can increase lighting while applying make-up or reduce it to create a spa-like atmosphere when you’re soaking in the tub.

Even small bathrooms deserve a makeover once in a while. By using these inexpensive ways to dress up your bathroom, you can make changes and not break your budget. Be creative and you can probably think of other ways to dress up the smallest and often used room of your house.

If you’re looking into adding some fresh decorative touches to your home, a good place to start is with your window treatments. But it can be a bit daunting to your budget to purchase window treatments for an entire room. However, there are many window treatment options available that you can do yourself, and you never even have to pick up a needle or thread a sewing machine. With a little imagination and some simple connectors, any piece of fabric can easily and quickly be transformed into a window treatment. So find a fabric that suits your home décor and personal style, and choose something that already has finished edges, such as a vintage linen or printed sheet. Then choose a grommet, clip, hook, or cord to hang it with, and you’ll have a beautifully simple and inexpensive window treatment that reflects your personal style and creativity.

Grommets, slipped over wall hooks, produce a simple, crisp window treatment. Generally, a hammer and a grommet tool works at least as well for setting just a few grommets. The grommet prevents the hook from tearing through the hole. You can thread rayon cording through grommets and tie behind the grommets to create loops to hang from a wooden dowel or hooks above the window.

There are also stylish clips that can be found at flea markets and antique stores that simply latch onto the fabric. Home decorating and import stores also carry clip-on rings to hang curtains from.

You can even use buttons on curtains. Simply thread fine wire through the holes and sections of ribbon and simply twist the wire on the back side to create simple ribbon loops to hang the curtain with.

Let your creativity be your guide, and you can craft window treatments that reflect your personality and style. You’re only limited by your own imagination.

Decorating a home can be a trying thing to do with the best of budgets. The fact that you do not happen to have large lots of money lying around however should not prevent you from having a lovely kitchen to call your own. The kitchen is after all, the heart of any home and you want this room to be one that invites everyone to come, congregate, and pitch in (one can always dream right?). This is the reason that you want your kitchen to shine above all other rooms in your home though. The kitchen should radiate warmth and home to all who enter.

Truthfully speaking there are many things you can do in your kitchen that will greatly impact the overall look of your kitchen without changing anything structurally within your kitchen. If you have wallpaper, remove it and try paint. There are all kinds of great things you can do in the kitchen from plaster, which goes amazingly well in a kitchen, to faux finishes and textures, and glazes for added impact. The walls in the kitchen are your canvas and the world is at your disposal. Just remember to try to tie the walls into the floors and cabinets or at the very least to the floors and cabinets you hope to have in your kitchen someday.

In addition to painting the walls in your kitchen you may also want to consider painting, staining, or antiquing your cabinets. It is much cheaper than replacing them and much simpler than staining them. Really it boils down to a matter of choice. My first choice wouldn’t be painting but then again, there are times when painting is a viable option. It will greatly change the overall appearance of the kitchen if nothing else.

Moving right along. Another great change that isn’t terribly expensive to make in the kitchen is hardware. The simple act of changing the door handles and drawer pulls on your kitchen cabinet can result in an almost instant facelift. When these changes are combined with painted or stained cabinetry the effects are nothing short of stunning in many cases. It’s the little things that often have the greatest impact so keep this in mind when planning your changes.

The floors of your kitchen are another rather inexpensive change that can be made despite preconceptions. Keep in mind that you do not have to go top of the line in order to enjoy huge changes in the appearance of your floors. There are laminate floors that are rather inexpensive to install as well as many forms of peel and stick tile that can bring about impressive results for very little effort and without professional skills. Any floors that you are capable of installing yourself will save a lot of money and can make a huge difference in the appearance and your enjoyment of your kitchen.

As you can see there are many ways in which you can improve and enhance the warmth and coziness that you want your kitchen to convey without shattering the piggy bank in the process. More importantly, you should keep in mind that taking on one project at a time allows you to make the adjustments in your own time and as finances allow.
